6th Form History Trips

A regular feature in the History department calendar has been trips to Birmingham to the Sovereign Education lectures.  These are a series of lectures on the Tudors which forms part of the AS and A2 course content.  This year students have attended lectures on Henry VII, Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.  The lectures have a two fold benefit in that they are always relevant and informative but, they also give the students a real sense of what University will be like.  We have been very lucky this year to have had a range of speakers such as Dr Alec Ryrie, University of Durham and Professor Ronald Hutton, University of Bristol.  The most famous and well  know historian was Professor John Guy, Cambridge University who gave a most detailed lecture on the ‘Legacy of Cromwell’.
