Key stage 3 Music
Music is divided into four elements – Listening, Performing, Composing and Appraising. Each element is evident in all work that pupils create, perform and assess.

‘Musical Futures’ – Pupils work in bands to perform a range of songs and compose their own.
The music department is currently piloting ‘Musical Futures’ in year 9. This will be piloted in year 8 as of September 2010. The hope is that soon the ‘Musical Futures’ approach will run across all three years at Key Stage 3.

Key Stage 4 Music
Year 11’s are currently working with the OCR GCSE specification and Year 10’s are currently working with the AQA specification. There are three parts to the coursework, performing, composing and listening. Pupils study a range of popular, world and classical music and gain a greater understanding of music. This is supported by the composing and performing elements.
