Leadership Opportunities

Leadership academy

This is the first year in Telford and Wrekin that a leadership academy has been set up for the elite leaders within each school. At BRJ we currently have 3 pupils from year 10 and 5 pupils from year 12 enrolled in the leadership academy. The purpose of the academy is to nurture and develop those leaders who we feel are committed to volunteering and helping others. As a result of the academy our pupils have been placed into community or school clubs to volunteer to help.

Pupils also have funding to gain a coaching qualification in their chosen sport.

Level One and Level Two Leadership Award

Pupils have the opportunity in year 10 and year 11 to take part in a level one leadership award which is held after school (this is the old JSLA). Pupils learn skills and develop qualities of how to be a good and effective leader in sport.

Starting this term we are offering the level two community sports leader award to all students in years 12 and 13. Many of our level two students organise and run the inter-form competitions which are held at lunchtime. They have the opportunity to go into local primary schools to help with lunchtime and after school clubs. We currently have several students helping with football and dance clubs in primary schools.

Young Ambassadors

As part of the leadership roles pupils undertake at BRJ one of out pupils was selected as a young ambassador as experienced a trip to Old Trafford.
