Building Schools For The Future Programme (BSF)
Consultation Process

Consultation Process March 2012

It is now March and the proposals for the new joint Church School are still stuck somewhere inside Civic offices.  The final proposals are now due to be published at the end of April.

As part of the consultation process the Bishop would like to hear the views of students, parents and staff of our schools and also the parishioners who have supported BRJ over the decades.

Parents should have received a copy of the consultation papers via their child and parishioners can pick up a copy from their parish church. If you haven’t received your copy or would like an additional copy, please click here.

Both parents are entitled to respond, as are other members of our College Community, so please feel free to down load as many copies as you need.

The booklet sets out:

  • What academies are and how they are set up and governed.
  • What might be different in an academy for your child.
  • What is being proposed by the council and the timetable for change.
  • What transport arrangements have been put in place.

This final point has always been crucial to the college and the diocese. We have received assurances that current transport arrangements will continue and that, crucially, the council also intends to provide transport support to the new Academy for Catholic pupils who would have attended Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College and who will have a sibling on roll at the new Academy in September 2014.

BRJ has always benefitted from having students from a wide range of faith backgrounds. The council’s decision recognises this and guarantees that families currently choosing BRJ will be able to do so in the future.
Please respond positively to this consultation. We want to guarantee first-rate facilities for first-rate students, and these proposals will mean that we can do just that.

Please make sure that your responses are with the diocese by march 30th, or with us by March 27th. In addition please let your councillor know that you support the BSF plans for a Joint Church Academy.

Many thanks for your support.
