The Month of Dance

The last few weeks has seen a very busy time for the Dance department. This is the time of year when all the work we have been doing since September culminates in a number of performances. For the first time this year, a Primary school Dance Festival was held here on Tuesday 15th April. More than two hundred children from Telford primary schools performed on our stage. The atmosphere in the theatre was amazing, as the children applauded and cheered  each other at the end of every piece... Click HERE to view the full article.

17th & 18th April - Born For This Production

On the 17th & 18th of April the RE Departments 'Born For This' production took place in front of a packed house. The show was a huge success as the result of all the hard work by staff and students. Huge thanks go to them for their enthusiasm, commitment and dedication to the show. So many of those who came to see the production have commented on the moving and memorable experience that they were able to share in.

The students that have been involved have expressed a new and deeper understanding of the last journey of Jesus' life from being part of this experience. This is something that will stay with them for a long time. Mrs Smith

February 6th - UK Youth Parliament Success

After last years success at having one of our students elected as the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for Telford and Wrekin, we as a College have gone one better this year. We are delighted to announce that two of our current students, Edward Halliday (13) and Sarah Dale (17) were elected as the Member of Youth Parliament and the Deputy Member respectively.

The success follows an event held by local council youth workers. Edward and Sarah faced tough opposition from a range of candidates to be placed on the ballot paper. After this, local schools were given the opportunity to vote for who they wanted as the Telford and Wrekin representative. We owe a big thank you to all the people whom voted for Edward and Sarah. Of his success, Edward commented, “I am extremely pleased with the result of the election and very excited by the opportunity to represent young people from across Telford and Wrekin.” Mr Doran

Monday 28th to Friday 1st February - Internet Safety Week

On Tuesday 29th January, BRJ held an evening for parents and students on Internet Safety. The evening was hosted by the schools' eLearning Director and Assistant Head, Ian Barrett who gave clear and simple advice about how to keep safe on the net.

Mobile phones and the internet are marvelous tools but parents are rightly concerned about the safety of their child when they are using the new technologies. The college already takes great care to make the Internet a safe and secure place for students and staff, but we want to do even more. Click HERE for ‘cyber safety’ guidance. Mr Barrett

January 28th - Students Practice for Arctic Exploration

BRJ Invades Italy

Despite a meeting time of quarter to one, the car park at BRJ was heaving 20 minutes before that—such was the keenness of the students not to be left behind.  As matters turned out, it was not the students, but a couple of passports and some health insurance cards which had failed to reach the coach. Masterful organisation quickly realised the problem (i.e. Mrs Simmonds) and parents were dispatched back home to retrieve the missing documents... click HERE for the full article. Mr High
